📆 Crochet Alongs
Started January 1, Nicki’s Homemade Crafts has her Christmas Bookshelf Mosaic Crochet Blanket CAL 2026 in progress.
It’s a good week if you like Mosaic crochet, because Juniper and Oakes has in progress her Mosaic Grannies Collection blanket. A square for every month.
❤ Quick Valentine’s Makes
Here’s an easy stuffed heart from Annie’s Design. Whip up a few of these using yarn from your stash. They’ll look great in any colors!
This flat Valentine’s Day Heart from Hearth Hook and Home can double as a class gift, when you slide in a pencil or a lollipop.
And here’s a collection of quick and easy heart patterns and all of them are free with a variety of hearts including coasters, embellishments and ornaments.
Maybe not quick, but very cute (and I couldn’t resist!) is the Valentine’s Gnome from Mj’s Off The Hook.
💬 That’s What They Say
This piece for “Crochety Cranks who Crochet” explains the origins of the words crochety and crochet, in our ever-changing and evolving language!
🧡 Featured Crochet Charity
Knit The Rainbow collects both knitted and crocheted items for homeless LGBTQ+ youth in NYC. Most charities depend on the crafter to send their items directly to the charity. This charity is one of the few I’ve come across that has partnered with local yarn stores across the country to act as collection points for handmade items.

FINISH-IT FEBRUARY
Choosing Your Top 3 Projects
Planning to Finish Unfinished Objects
If you completed last week’s WIP inventory, congratulations! That’s probably the hardest part of Finish It February. Seeing everything laid out can feel overwhelming at first, but clarity is power.
Now it’s time for the most important step: choosing your Top 3 projects to focus on this month.
This is where the Finish It Tracker is useful.
The goal isn’t to finish everything. It’s to finish something — intentionally.
Start by looking at your inventory and asking a few practical questions:
1. Which projects are closest to done?
Momentum matters. A project that’s 80–90% complete is a great candidate because it gives you a quick win and a boost of motivation.
2. Which projects are mentally “heavy”?
Some WIPs take up more space in your head than in your project bag. If you keep feeling guilty about a specific project, consider putting it in your Top 3 — even if the goal is to frog or officially let it go.
3. What realistically fits your February?
Be honest about your time, energy, and yarn tolerance right now. A simple hat might be a better choice than an intricate blanket if life is busy.
4. Mix it up.
A good Top 3 often looks like:
One nearly-finished project
One medium, steady project
One decision project (finish or frog)
Use the Finish It Tracker to mark each project as Finish, Frog, or Let Go. Writing that decision down is powerful — it turns vague intention into a plan.
Remember: this isn’t a productivity contest. Choosing fewer projects on purpose is how you actually finish them.
Progress over perfection. Always.
Stay tuned: An interactive online tool is coming soon to help you track projects, revisit decisions, and keep the Finish-It February mindset going well beyond this month.
Start where you are. One project. One decision. Small Steps.

WIPs
My Finish-It Feb Progress
They say that life is what happens when you’re busy making plans. Between thing and the other, it was a crazy week and I didn’t get to work on any of my WIPs! Not only that, my whole weekend was taken up by volunteering at a weekend-long Robotics tournament that left me exhausted. Late in the evenings, I was able to work my Crazy Hexi Cardi but due to not reading the pattern properly and not knowing left from right (several times!) there’s been lots of frogging and re-doing going on so I haven’t made as much progress as I’d like.
I’m still keeping that poor headless bear in the back of mind as first to work on. This is my number one project to focus on!
My local charity put out a call for St. Patrick’s Day baby hats for newborns - must. not. heed. the. call! Focus on WIPs, Michelle!

The headless bear!

IN STITCHES

No starting new ones this month! Only finishing!
WEAVING IN THE ENDS
As tempting as it is to start a new project, you must resist! Repeat after me: WIPs only! WIPs only! You can do it, it’s only a few more weeks. And February is a short month.
